PROJECTS

NATIONAL PARENTS AND TEACHERS SUMMIT
THEME: THE CALL

Raising Generation Next.

Every generation inherits a responsibility to prepare the next.
The future of any society is not shaped only by government, policies, technology or economic resources. It is shaped, first and foremost, by people, and the people who exert some of the earliest and most enduring influence on a child’s life are the parent at home and the teacher in the classroom.
Today, however, the world is changing rapidly. Children are growing up in an environment profoundly different from that experienced by previous generations. Technology, social media, changing family structures, economic pressures, shifting values and new social realities have created both unprecedented opportunities and serious challenges for parents and teachers.
In the midst of these changes, one fundamental question demands our attention: Are we intentionally preparing our children for the future they are going to inherit?

The National Parents and Teachers Summit; THE CALL, hosted by The Podium, is born out of this question.
It is a strategic platform designed to bring parents and teachers together for meaningful conversations, practical learning, reflection and renewed commitment to the responsibility of raising and educating the next generation.

WHAT IS NPTS?

INTRODUCTION

The Summit recognises that parenting and teaching are not merely daily routines, professions or obligations. They are assignments of enormous consequence. Every conversation a parent has with a child, every value demonstrated at home, every lesson taught in a classroom, every correction given, every encouragement offered and every example set can influence the person that child eventually becomes.
This is why THE CALL is a call to responsibility. It is a call for parents to rediscover the importance of their presence, leadership, guidance and example. It is a call for teachers to rediscover the nobility of their profession and the profound influence they wield beyond the delivery of academic lessons. It is also a call for the home and the school to stop functioning as isolated environments and begin to work more intentionally as partners in child development.

The Summit seeks to provide practical insights into how children can be better understood, guided, supported, disciplined, educated and prepared for life. It will bring together parents, teachers, educational leaders, professionals and other stakeholders to examine the realities of raising children in today’s world and explore practical pathways towards healthier families, stronger classrooms and better educational outcomes.
THE CALL is therefore more than a conference. It is an invitation to pause, reflect and ask whether we are fulfilling the responsibility entrusted to us. Because the quality of the next generation will, in many ways, reflect the quality of the leadership they receive today.

THE CALL IS SIMPLE:
Raise better homes.
Build better classrooms.
Strengthen the partnership between parents and teachers.
Prepare a better generation. And ultimately, build a better society.

ABOUT THE ORGANISING BODY

THE PODIUM

A Platform for Public Lecture, Enlightenment, Appraisal and Dialogue
The Podium is a platform created to provide a space for public lectures, enlightenment, appraisal and meaningful dialogue on issues that shape individuals, families, institutions and society.
At its core, The Podium believes that important societal issues must be discussed openly, intelligently and constructively. Progress begins when people are willing to ask difficult questions, examine existing realities, share knowledge and engage one another in conversations that can lead to better decisions and meaningful action.
The Podium is committed to bringing together professionals, academics, leaders, parents, teachers, policymakers, practitioners and members of the public to examine issues from diverse perspectives and promote deeper understanding.
The Podium does not exist merely to create events. It seeks to create spaces for thought, reflection and constructive engagement—where knowledge can be shared, assumptions can be examined, experiences can be evaluated and practical solutions can emerge.

Its approach is built around four fundamental ideas:

LECTURE

bringing knowledge and informed perspectives to the public.

ENLIGHTENMENT

helping people understand the issues that affect their lives and society.

DIALOGUE

creating room for questions, diverse perspectives and constructive conversations.

APPRAISAL

examining existing practices, systems and outcomes with honesty and objectivity.

.

Through these, The Podium seeks to contribute to a culture in which people do not merely complain about societal problems but understand them, discuss them and participate in finding solutions.
It is in furtherance of this philosophy that The Podium presents the National Parents and Teachers Summit — THE CALL.
The Summit represents one of the platform’s efforts to bring a critical societal conversation to the forefront: the responsibility of parents and teachers in shaping the lives and future of the next generation.
The Podium believes that when society creates the right platforms for knowledge and dialogue, people can be inspired to reconsider their roles, improve their practices and embrace greater responsibility.
THE PODIUM is a place where ideas are examined, voices are heard, minds are enlightened, and meaningful conversations inspire better action.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL PARENTS AND TEACHERS SUMMIT

THE CALL

The National Parents and Teachers Summit is a strategic platform created to bring together parents and teachers—the two most influential custodians of a child’s formative years—for a shared conversation on the development, education, character and future of the next generation.

Hosted by The Podium, the Summit is founded on a simple but profound conviction: no serious conversation about the future of children can be complete without the active involvement of those who raise them at home and those who teach them in the classroom.
The Summit seeks to bridge the gap between the home and the school, recognising that children are shaped by the combined influence of family, education, values, relationships, environment and society.
Parents provide the earliest and most enduring foundation for a child’s development. Teachers extend that development within the classroom, helping children acquire knowledge, discover abilities, develop discipline, interact with others and prepare for life beyond school.
Yet, in a rapidly changing world, both responsibilities are becoming increasingly complex. Parents are often confronted with demanding careers, economic pressures and competing responsibilities, while teachers face changing educational expectations, technological disruption and increasingly diverse needs among learners.

THE CALL brings these two critical stakeholders into one room—not to assign blame, but to encourage reflection, responsibility, collaboration and practical action.
The Summit will provide a platform for informed conversations around intentional parenting, purposeful teaching, character formation, emotional wellbeing, communication, discipline, technology, career preparation, educational excellence and the changing needs of children in contemporary society.
It will feature distinguished speakers, educators, professionals and other relevant voices who will share practical insights and perspectives capable of helping parents and teachers become more intentional in their respective roles.
The Summit will also encourage interactive dialogue and questions-and-answers, allowing participants to engage directly with resource persons and address real challenges confronting families and classrooms.
Ultimately, the National Parents and Teachers Summit seeks to strengthen two environments that profoundly influence the future of every child: THE HOME AND THE CLASSROOM.
Because when the home and the classroom become stronger, the child stands a better chance of becoming stronger.
And when parents and teachers accept their responsibility as partners in shaping the next generation, the possibility of raising a healthier, wiser, more responsible and more capable generation becomes greater.

THE SUMMIT IS A CALL TO:
Parents — to lead intentionally.
Teachers — to teach purposefully.
Homes — to become environments of formation.
Classrooms — to become environments of transformation.
Parents and teachers — to work together for the child.
This is THE CALL.

WHY THE THEME: THE CALL

A Call to Remember Why We Were Entrusted With the Next Generation
The choice of THE CALL is deliberate.
Parenting is not merely the provision of food, shelter, school fees and other material needs. Teaching is not merely the delivery of lessons in exchange for a salary. At their deepest level, both are assignments of influence, responsibility and stewardship.
Every parent has been entrusted with a life to nurture, guide, protect and prepare. Every teacher who stands before a classroom has been given access to minds that are still developing and lives that are still taking shape. That is the call.
It is the call to recognise that children are not simply growing up; they are being shaped. They are learning from what we say, what we do, what we tolerate, what we celebrate and what we consistently demonstrate.
The theme therefore challenges parents and teachers to move beyond routine and rediscover the deeper significance of their roles.

THE CALL TO PARENTS
It is a call to be present. It is a call to listen, guide, correct, encourage and model the values we desire to see in our children. It is a call to recognise that no level of financial provision can completely substitute for parental presence, attention, affection, leadership and intentional involvement.

THE CALL TO TEACHERS
It is a call to rediscover the dignity of the classroom. A teacher does not merely transfer information. A teacher can awaken confidence, identify potential, shape character, inspire ambition and influence the direction of a child’s life.
Teaching, therefore, is more than a profession. It is a responsibility that carries generational consequences.

THE CALL TO BOTH
Most importantly, THE CALL is an invitation for parents and teachers to recognise that they are not competing custodians of the child. They are partners.
The home cannot completely delegate child development to the school, and the school cannot completely separate itself from the realities children carry from home.
When both understand their assignment and work together intentionally, the child benefits.
The theme THE CALL therefore asks a simple but profound question: Will we merely raise children, or will we intentionally prepare a generation?
The answer will be reflected not only in the children we raise and teach today, but in the families, institutions, communities and societies they will build tomorrow.

VISION STATEMENT

OUR VISION

“To inspire and help build intentional homes and transformative classrooms where children are deliberately nurtured to become responsible, confident, capable, resilient and purposeful individuals, equipped with the character, knowledge, skills and values required to contribute meaningfully to society.”

We envision a generation raised by parents who understand the power of their influence and taught by educators who recognise the significance of their calling.

We envision a generation that is not merely educated to pass examinations, but developed to navigate life, discover purpose, create value, lead responsibly and build a better society.

MISSION STATEMENT

OUR MISSION

“To enlighten, equip and empower parents and teachers with the knowledge, practical tools and renewed sense of responsibility required to intentionally develop the next generation.”

The Summit will pursue this mission by creating a platform for meaningful conversations, expert-led learning, practical engagement and constructive dialogue around the realities of parenting, teaching and child development.

We seek to:

  • Enlighten parents and teachers on the changing needs and realities of children in today’s world;
  • Equip them with practical knowledge and approaches for effective parenting, teaching and mentorship;
  • Engage them in honest conversations about the challenges affecting the home and classroom;
  • Connect parents, teachers and relevant stakeholders as partners in child development;
  • Empower participants to translate knowledge into intentional action within their homes, classrooms and institutions; and
  • Inspire a renewed commitment to the noble responsibility of raising and preparing the next generation.

Ultimately, our mission is to help transform homes into stronger foundations and classrooms into more purposeful environments for development, recognising that the future of society is greatly influenced by what happens in both places.

Why We Cannot Afford to Remain PassivE.

THE CASE FOR ACTION

Raising a child has never been an easy responsibility, but the task has become significantly more complex. Today’s children are growing up in a world shaped by rapid technological change, social media, economic pressure, changing family structures, shifting values and influences that extend far beyond the home and classroom.
At the same time, many parents are increasingly consumed by work, business and the demands of everyday survival. Some provide extensively for their children materially but have little time for meaningful engagement, guidance and supervision. Others understand their responsibilities but struggle to fulfil them intentionally amid competing demands. The consequences can be profound.
A child can have everything money can buy and still lack the guidance that money cannot provide.
The classroom is facing its own challenges. Teachers are expected to educate children whose needs are increasingly diverse and complex, while some educators have lost sight of the deeper responsibility attached to the teaching profession. When teaching becomes merely a means of earning a living, the formative influence of the classroom can gradually diminish.
Beyond the home and school, children are constantly exposed to powerful influences through social media, entertainment, peer relationships, digital technology and artificial intelligence. These influences can educate, inspire and create opportunities, but they can also expose young people to misinformation, unhealthy values, harmful behaviours and pressures they may not yet possess the maturity to navigate.
We are therefore confronted with an urgent reality:
The people shaping our children are changing, the environment surrounding our children is changing, and the challenges confronting our children are changing. Our response must change as well.

We cannot continue to complain about declining values without examining the environments in which those values are formed. We cannot demand responsible young people without intentionally teaching and modelling responsibility. We cannot expect academic excellence while neglecting the emotional, social, moral and practical development of the child.
The question is no longer whether parents and teachers have an influence. They do. The question is whether that influence is being exercised intentionally, consciously and effectively. This is why THE CALL is necessary.
The National Parents and Teachers Summit provides an opportunity for parents and teachers to pause, reflect, learn, reconnect with their responsibilities and discover practical ways to respond to the realities of raising and educating children today.

THE TIME TO WAIT IS OVER.
The children are growing.
The world is changing.
The responsibility is ours.

THE CALL is an invitation to act, before the generation we are entrusted to raise is shaped entirely by forces we failed to understand, guide or influence.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The National Parents and Teachers Summit is designed to move beyond conversation to meaningful transformation. The Summit seeks to awaken a deeper sense of responsibility among parents and teachers, equip them with practical knowledge, and encourage stronger collaboration in the development of children.

Specifically, the Summit aims to:

Reawaken Intentional Parenting
Encourage parents to move beyond providing for their children to intentionally guiding, mentoring, nurturing and preparing them for life.

Restore the Dignity and Purpose of Teaching
Help teachers rediscover the significance of their profession as a noble responsibility that goes beyond delivering lessons to shaping minds, influencing character and developing potential.

Build a culture of partnership between homes and schools, recognizing that children benefit most when parents and teachers work together rather than operate in isolation.

Equip Adults with Practical Child-Development Knowledge
Provide parents and teachers with relevant insights, practical tools and approaches for understanding the intellectual, emotional, social, behavioural and developmental needs of children.

Promote Character, Values and Responsible Citizenship
Encourage deliberate cultivation of integrity, discipline, respect, responsibility, resilience, empathy, excellence and other values that prepare children to become responsible members of society.

Improve Communication Between Homes and School

Promote a Whole-Child Approach to Development
Encourage parents and teachers to look beyond academic performance and pay attention to the development of character, creativity, critical thinking, communication, relationships, talents, confidence and practical life skills.

Build a More Intentional Approach to Raising the Next Generation
Ultimately, the Summit seeks to inspire a culture in which raising children is approached with greater consciousness, preparation, responsibility and purpose—because the quality of the next generation will be influenced by the quality of the environments we create for them today.

The goal is simple: to help adults become more intentional about the lives they have been entrusted to influence.

Strengthen Parent-Teacher Collaboration
Build a culture of partnership between homes and schools, recognizing that children benefit most when parents and teachers work together rather than operate in isolation.

WHY PARENTS SHOULD ATTEND

Because Raising a Child Requires More Than Providing for a Child.
Parenting is one of the greatest responsibilities entrusted to any human being, yet many people enter it without adequate preparation for the complexities that come with raising a child in a rapidly changing world.
The National Parents and Teachers Summit gives parents an opportunity to pause, reflect, learn and become more intentional about the responsibility of shaping the lives of their children.

At THE CALL, parents will gain practical insights that can help them understand their children better, strengthen their homes and become more effective in guiding the next generation.

Parents Will Learn How To:
Understand Their Children Better
Gain deeper insight into the changing emotional, social, intellectual and developmental needs of children and learn how to respond appropriately at different stages of growth.

Parent With Greater Intention
Discover how to move from simply meeting children’s physical needs to deliberately developing their character, confidence, values, abilities and sense of responsibility.

Communicate More Effectively
Learn approaches for building open, healthy and trusting communication that makes it easier for children to express themselves, ask questions and seek guidance.

Build Stronger Values at Home
Understand how everyday parental behaviour, decisions, relationships and family practices shape what children believe about themselves, others and the world around them.

Handle Discipline Wisely
Explore healthier approaches to correction, boundaries and discipline that establish accountability without destroying confidence, dignity or the parent-child relationship.

Identify and Develop Their Children’s Potential
Look beyond academic performance and learn to recognize gifts, interests, creativity, leadership abilities, skills and other forms of potential that may require deliberate nurturing.

Prepare Children for Life, Not Just School
Gain a broader perspective on preparing children for adulthood by developing responsibility, resilience, critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, character and practical life skills.

Partner More Effectively With Teachers
Discover how meaningful communication and collaboration with schools can improve a child’s learning, behaviour, development and overall educational experience.

More Than a Conference —A Moment of Reflection

Parents will leave THE CALL not merely with information, but with questions worth asking and practical actions worth taking:
Am I truly present in my child’s life?
What values am I modelling every day?
Does my child feel heard, understood and supported?
What kind of person am I intentionally helping my child become?

The Summit is an invitation for every parent to take a fresh look at the privilege and responsibility of parenting and make a renewed commitment to raise children with purpose, wisdom, love and intentionality.

Because the greatest gift a parent can give a child is not simply a better life, but the preparation to live that life well.

WHY TEACHERS SHOULD ATTEND

Because Every Classroom Is a Place of Influence
Teaching is more than delivering a curriculum. Every day, teachers interact with developing minds, emerging personalities and future leaders. Their words, attitudes, expectations, discipline and example can influence a child long after a lesson has ended.
The National Parents and Teachers Summit provides teachers with an opportunity to step back from the demands of the classroom, reflect on their influence, sharpen their practice and rediscover the deeper purpose of their profession.
At THE CALL, teachers will gain insights and practical perspectives that can strengthen them professionally, personally and as educators, mentors and role models.

Teachers Will Discover How To:

Understand the Changing Child
Gain fresh perspectives on the realities confronting children today, including changing social environments, technology, family dynamics, peer influence and evolving emotional and learning needs.

Become More Effective Educators
Explore approaches that can make teaching more engaging, relevant and responsive while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, participation and independent learning.

Teach Beyond the Curriculum
Discover how ordinary classroom interactions can become opportunities to develop responsibility, discipline, confidence, communication, teamwork, resilience and other qualities needed for life.

Recognize and Develop Potential
Learn to look beyond examination scores and identify different forms of ability, including creativity, leadership, entrepreneurship, communication, technical skills, problem-solving and other emerging strengths.

Strengthen Mentorship and Student Support
Develop greater awareness of the teacher’s role as a trusted adult who can listen, encourage, guide and positively influence children who may be facing challenges at home, in school or within their social environment.

Improve Classroom Communication
Learn practical ways to communicate with children more effectively, build trust, manage difficult conversations and create a classroom atmosphere where students feel respected and motivated to learn.

Work More Effectively With Parents
Understand how constructive relationships with parents can improve children’s educational experience, behaviour and development, while reducing unnecessary conflict between homes and schools.

Navigate Technology and Artificial Intelligence
Explore the opportunities and challenges created by digital technology, social media and artificial intelligence, and consider how teachers can help children use these tools responsibly and productively.

Strengthen Personal and Professional Growth
Reflect on personal conduct, emotional intelligence, leadership, continuous learning and professional excellence, recognizing that educators must also keep developing if they are to effectively develop others.

Rediscover the Purpose of Teaching
Reconnect with the deeper meaning of the profession and recognize that the impact of a teacher cannot always be measured by examination results. Sometimes, the greatest evidence of a teacher’s work is found years later in the character, confidence, competence and contribution of the people they helped to shape.

An Invitation to Reconnect With the Calling. THE CALL challenges every teacher to consider a deeper question:

“What kind of people are becoming because I teach them?”
The Summit is therefore not simply an opportunity to acquire new knowledge. It is an opportunity to reflect, refresh, learn, connect and recommit to the noble responsibility of educating the next generation.

Teachers will leave better equipped to teach with greater understanding, lead with greater purpose, mentor with greater sensitivity and influence with greater intentionality.
Because a teacher may teach a subject for a term, but the influence of a teacher can remain in a child’s life for a lifetime.

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION

The National Parents and Teachers Summit is designed to provide more than a day of inspiring speeches. It is an opportunity for parents, teachers and other stakeholders to gain practical knowledge, exchange perspectives, build meaningful relationships and return to their homes, classrooms and institutions with renewed purpose.

Participants will benefit from:

Practical Knowledge for Real-Life Challenges;

Because meaningful transformation begins when knowledge becomes action.

A Conversation That Leads to Action
These topics are not designed merely to generate discussion. They are intended to provoke reflection, challenge assumptions and provide practical pathways for parents and teachers to respond more intentionally to the realities confronting children today.
THE CALL is not simply about talking about the next generation. It is about taking responsibility for how that generation is being formed.

RESOURCE PERSONS AND SPEAKERS

The quality of a conversation is influenced by the quality of the voices invited to shape it. The National Parents and Teachers Summit will bring together a carefully selected community of educators, parents, education leaders, child-development professionals, psychologists, counsellors, faith and community leaders, policymakers, practitioners and other distinguished experts whose experience and insight can contribute meaningfully to the conversation.

The Summit will prioritize resource persons who combine knowledge with practical experience, ensuring that participants receive perspectives that are relevant to the realities of today’s homes and classrooms.

Distinguished Speakers
The Summit will feature accomplished professionals and thought leaders who will address critical issues surrounding parenting, education, child development, character formation and the future of the next generation.

Facilitators and Session Leaders

Beyond keynote addresses, experienced facilitators will lead interactive sessions, panel discussions, workshops and question-and-answer segments. Their role will be to move conversations from theory to practical application and help participants examine how the issues discussed can be addressed within their own homes, classrooms and institutions.

Educationists and School Leaders

Experienced educationists, school proprietors, principals, head teachers and education administrators will contribute practical perspectives from the frontline of education. Their experience will help illuminate the realities schools face and the changes required to create more effective learning environments.

Child-Development and Family Professionals

Professionals with expertise in child psychology, counselling, family development, emotional wellbeing, behavioural development and related fields will provide evidence-informed perspectives on the needs of children and the responsibilities of the adults who guide them.

Parents and Practitioners

The Summit will also create space for voices from lived experience. Parents, teachers and practitioners who have developed innovative approaches or successfully navigated significant challenges will share practical lessons that other participants can adapt.

Policy, Faith and Community Voices

Recognizing that children are influenced by more than their homes and schools, the Summit will welcome policymakers, government stakeholders, faith leaders and community influencers whose contributions can strengthen the broader ecosystem supporting children and families.

A Diversity of Voices, One Common Purpose

A Diversity of Voices, One Common Purpose
The Summit will deliberately bring together different perspectives because no single profession or institution possesses all the answers to the challenges facing the next generation.
The objective is to create a rich and balanced conversation where research meets experience, policy meets practice, and ideas lead to action.
Speaker profiles and session assignments will be presented in the official Summit programme and publicity materials as confirmations are finalized.
Different voices. Different experiences. One responsibility: helping to raise a better generation.

INTERACTIVE SESSIONS

Beyond Listening. Into Conversation.
The National Parents and Teachers Summit is designed to be more than a series of speeches. THE CALL is intended to create a meaningful space where parents, teachers and other stakeholders can ask questions, share experiences, challenge assumptions and discover practical responses to the realities they face every day. The Summit will therefore place strong emphasis on interaction, dialogue and practical engagement.

Questions and Answers

Participants will have opportunities to ask questions directly to speakers, facilitators and experts. These sessions will allow participants to raise real concerns from their homes, classrooms and schools and receive practical perspectives from experienced professionals.

Panel Conversations

Selected experts, educators, parents and practitioners will engage in moderated panel discussions around some of the most pressing issues affecting children and education today.
Panel conversations will encourage diverse perspectives and explore difficult questions that may not have simple answers.

Participant Experiences

Parents and teachers will be encouraged to share experiences, challenges, observations and lessons from their own environments. These contributions can help turn the Summit into a collective learning experience rather than a one-directional conference.

Practical Problem-Solving

questions to the table:
How do I communicate better with my child?
How can I handle difficult behaviour without damaging the relationship?
How do I balance work, family and intentional parenting?
How can teachers respond to increasingly complex student needs?
How can parents and schools work together when there is disagreement?
How do we help children navigate technology responsibly? These are not merely theoretical questions. They are realities confronting families and schools every day.

Black man and woman sit at desk analyzing financial documents and tracking expenses, income and savings management. Couple preparing for taxes payment and planning their household budget.

From Conversation to Action

The purpose of interaction is not simply to create lively discussions. It is to help participants leave with greater clarity, practical ideas and actionable responses.

At THE CALL, questions are welcome, experiences matter, and honest conversations are encouraged.

Because sometimes the most important insight in a conference is not the answer prepared by the speaker, but the question asked by a participant.
